An eastern bluebird brings nesting material to a ceramic bird bottle on the side of a house in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. These glazed bottles have been used for nesting birds since 1699 and the first one discovered was excavated from the yard of the James Geddy House.

Incredible action capture, Rachel! The ceramic bottle matches the birds' color on the neck and breast! I would have never thought of a ceramic bottle being a bird nest. I need to try that! Awesome! F/L

Many thanks to you, Anita! Loved watching them flying all around the garden and then back to the nest!
